WORSHIP

One of the confessions of the Presbyterian Church states that the chief goal of our lives is to glorify God and enjoy God forever.  This means that worshipping and praising God is at the center of what we do as a church.

We believe that we are called together as a community in Christ to do just that.  We hope that you find our worship services simple but meaningful.  We believe that all gather together to worship God therefore congregational participation in worship is encouraged.  We believe in “participation, not perfection.”  Please find below the opportunities available for worship.

FELLOWSHIP TIME:  9:30 AM

WORSHIP:  10:00 AM

Traditional Sanctuary Service 10:00 AM  1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month

This service is a more traditional service with liturgies and hymns that reflect the history of our congregation and denomination.   Opportunities to be a part of this service can include special music, lectionary readers, Scripture readers, candle lighters, ushers, etc.

Coffee House Church 10:00 AM 4th Sunday of the month

This service is a less formal worship that typically takes place in our common meeting space.  The service is a different twist on the traditional one—many kinds of things might happen in this hour!  It is a more experiential form of worship.  We also serve beverages and food—like a real coffeehouse!  There will be many opportunities to participate in this worship service.

MUSIC

Music is an integral part of any worship service.  In the past, Potwin has had a much larger music department with excellent music. Now that we are smaller, we achieve the same end in different ways.  Under our Music Director Gwen Jones’ guidance, we have a bell choir and the occasional vocal choir, The Potwin Spirit Singers. Rehearsals for Bell Choir are on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM with Occasional Choir rehearsal immediately following at 7:00 PM. Those groups do not rehearse every week during the summer months. We also enjoy musical contributions from the String Choir that is part of Southwind Music Studios, directed by Diane Gillenwater. In addition, we have “Special Music” Sundays where local musicians of all types share their talents with the congregation.  Do you have such a talent to share?  Please contact Gwen Jones for more information about scheduling!
